I do not know if this is relevant to the issue or a side effect but I notice my origin icon (I bought the game via Steam) is greyed out - Jedi Fallen Order was also bought through steam however is not greyed out.
Seeing as I know you apparently do not need origin installed to install Squadrons via steam is there something that is perhaps broken in our origin client causing this?

@EA_Kent , can we get an update? I've been watching this thread all day and this issue is killing all my excitement for this game. I know that I am not the only poster in this thread that is considering a refund. Any information at this point will help deter that.

Can we please get any sort of update? An ETA doesn't make sense because your team is trying to identify the problem. But, I don't see any updates on any of the EA official platforms for almost 24 hours.
