Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic Updating Problem

Hey, so i recently downloaded Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic on my PC off a physical copy of the game. It says that there are available updates, but when i try start them, it says it cant connect the server to download the updates. Does anyone know how to fix this or why it says this.

maybe try posting in the reddit kotor forum , on their right toolbar for example it points to a community patchv1.8
