I am one of the few who actually just think the connection issues are on the end user side, not server or EA side. However, there are steps EA can take to prevent the animosity.
I had a connection issue ruin a game for me for the first time recently, and it was definitely on my side. The spot i was playing in is notorious for these intermittent connection problems. The issue is that i forgot.
The thing that leaves a bad taste in my mouth is that the connection was bad from the start of the game but the game had no problem finding me a match. A lot of other games will do one of two things either have a connection icon on the match search screen that shows how good or bad your connection is, or it will use part of the time it searches for an opponent to test your connection and it will warn you prior to allowing game to begin. I think this would prevent a lot of the anger from the community.
