Sims mobile lost a sim

Hi! I was building a relationship with one of my elderly sims, but when I opened my game the next day, that sim is gone and the relationship is no longer visible under the stories tab. It's as if I removed the sim, except I didn't. Is there any way to get him back? I really wanted a child with that sim!
