Severe framerate drops in Multiplayer

Product: Battlefield V
Platform:PC
Please specify your platform model. PC
AMD or Nvidia Model Number GTX 970
Enter RAM memory size in GB 16
Which part of the game is the issue happening in? Multiplayer
Which part of the mode? Conquest
Please select your region Europe
On which server did this happen? All I tried
When did this happen? (dd.mm.yy hh:mm) 10.11.18 evening CET and 11.11.18, morning CET
Summarize your bug When entering any multiplayer session on a crowded server, the framerate drops to 5-10 frames, independent of graphics settings, the map, location on the map, the viewing direction, the distance to other players and other already tried attempts to solve this issue as described in the text field below.
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? To this time, all users who experienced this bug have reported having a Nvidia graphics card of various generations.
What happens when the bug occurs? The framerate drops to 5-10 FPS.
What should be happening instead? The framerate should be similar to Singleplayer mode and should be depending on the graphics settings.

The above-described bug has been observed and attempted to solve by multiple people as described in this thread: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues/Severe-multiplayer-FPS-bug/td-p/7157789

However, it is reported that empty servers and servers with up to 10 players run fine and that the framerate is at ~15 FPS in sessions with 32 players (for a user for whom the game runs at 11 FPS in a big session).

All reporting users have a very different hardware setup, ranging from top-tier high end to barely reaching minimum requirements. So far, all who have reported the bug have a Nvidia graphics card, so this may be related. It was reported that this issue did not occur in the Alpha and Beta phase, so I think an issue with the user's internet connection can be excluded.

To sum it up, the following has been tried by at least one of multiple reporting users, to no result:

- Switch to low graphics settings (no effect on the framerate at all)

- Enabled/disabled DirectX 12

- Reduced resolution

- Enabled/disabled several other graphics settings

- Run game and Origin as administrator

- Restarted router

- Opened the TCP-Ports 80, 443, 5222, 8080, 9988, 17502, 20000-20100, 22990, 42127 and UDP 443, 3659, 14000-14016, 22990-23006, 25200-25300

- Activated UPnP

- Cleared NAT cache

- Done a clean system start

- Clean driver reinstall (for me neither 416.34 nor 416.81 worked)

- Redownload and reinstall of the game, including manual deletion of remaining files in "My Documents"

- Cleaned the drives and registry with a cleaning software

For me, the game runs smoothly (30-60 FPS) on Ultra in Singleplayer.

According to the Task manager, BFV has a network load of ~200 kBit/s in multiplayer, which seems very low to me. I have a 50MBit/s connection, downloaded the game with 6.7 MB/s.

I have an i5-4690K, 16 GB Ram and Windows 10 64bit.

I ask other players who encountered this bug to post their hardware configuration (CPU, RAM, Graphics card, operating system) and if possible their DxDiag in this thread so EA gets a quick overview to find similarities and hardware dependencies more quickly.

I might have found a viable solution. The problem is not your hardware or drivers but the outdated Windows 10 version you are probably running right now.

The recent update brings DXR and other DirectX components necessary to play BFV.  I was running build 1803 until now and had similar issues with framerates around 10-20FPS, after updating to 1809 i get at least 80 up to 140.

You need to install the Windows 10 October update (1809) to play smoothly.

Go to Setting > Update and Security, check your Windows 10 build and search for updates.

If this does not work, you can get the update from here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

Hey everyone!

Can you let me know if any these steps help improve your frame rate in game?

  • Disable/enable hyperthreading
  • Turn V-Sync on/off
  • Turn on/off pre-render frames under the BFV advanced menu.
  • Try both settings in DX12 and DX11

Thanks,

Tried vsync, pre-render and both DX settings, nothing worked for me; will look into the hyperthreading one.
