SWBF2 (PC) wants to use DirectX9, I have DirectX12 on Win10

★★★ Newbie

I bought Star Wars BattleFront II for the PC a few years back.  I have used it on Windows XP and Win 7 without any problem.  I finally bought a new laptop and installed Win 10 Pro on it.  The laptop is a gaming laptop with a desktop i7-7700 processor with 8 cores, 32 Gb RAM, GE Force GTX 1060 video card with 6 GB memory.  So, the machine is more than capable of handling SWBF2.

After installing the game (4 disks) on my laptop, every time I try launching the game, I get an error that the DirectX version has to be updated before I can play the game.  The version on the CD (DirectX9) is not compatible with Windows 10 and the installation errors out.  I already have DirectX12 on Windows 10 Pro (latest build).

How do I get around this issue?  I see others are using SWBF2 on Windows 10.  Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

@EA_Barry Thank you so much for the link and the suggestions. The first download for the runtime installs did not work because the installation kept hanging at 0%. But the second link (Download Details - Microsoft Download Center - DirectX Redist (June 2010) - http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=8109 which installs the SDK worked. Now my install of SWBF2 opens up. But I still have a new problem of the Game asking me to insert the CD1 of the gave into the CD/DVD drive for me to play it. I don't have a drive. I installed the game from a borrowed external USB drive. Don't have one to keep attached to play the game. Is there any way the game can be changed so that I don't have to have a USB DVD Drive attached for me to play the game?
