PS4 game crashed, now unable to connect

I was playing earlier and the game crashed. I have attempted to connect several times over the past 4 hours to no avail. My buddy just sent me a game invite i tried to join. On his screen it is saying that i am still in a match and on my screen it still shows that i can not connect to the PlayStation Network. How can i get myself refreshed out of a game so i can reconnect to the servers?

How is your PS4 connected, wi-fi or lan?

1. Power off your system, then back on.
2.  Make sure you have a network connection.
3. Try joining again

If that doesn’t work, try one of the following:

• If you have a Pro trying turning off “Boost Mode” in Settings -> System
• Delete and re-install the game.

I turned off my system for the night and this morning it was working again. so maybe just being offline for a while is all i need to do
