Heya,

Normally a GPU will enter a recovery/low power mode if there is a driver or OC issue.

Given that the system locks up is odd.

I can get some info on what is causing the issue

I forgot to actually tell I bought a new one, it had issues with one fanblade being broken and being really loud. I am not sure how that could have affecte the GPU performance, since it wasn't overheating at all, however buying a new GPU did fix the issue.

It maybe a driver refresh that also helped. :P
