My OVR went from 98 to 97 without change of players or benched players

My OVR went from 98 to 97 for no reason.

You either swapped a icon or change a trait that is not in gold which will cause you to lower your overall. When you swap a icon it will still give you the previous overall until you back out of edit and it saves and then it will become official. Otherwise it looks like you keep the overall of your other Icon but you really dont. I have a 98 rim evolution and 99 mountain. When I am on 99 mountain and switch to my evolution it still states I'm a 99. This is not the case until I back out and it saves and registers has a 98. I thought I was tripping but, this happens.
