Misleading John Madden Coach Purchase

On the weekend I purchased John Madden with my series 4 trophys, assuming that I would get the coach to put into my line up. Not realising that you need to purchase the first John Madden under series 1 trophys. I now have a John Madden series 4 I have nothing I can do with. I've tried contacting EA customer service about this issue but they simply said there is nothing they can do because they do not do in game mechanics. They said I will need to post under the forums and hope that a game "technician" reaches out to me under here.
PLEASE help!!
