With Origin i still got message license check failed, after 1.06 patch.

installed again to see if patch worked and I can confirm that for the first time since Feb 22 I am into the menus, thank you.
*EDIT*: game crashed, then asked me to "activate" the game? and now I just get the "Licence check failed" screen again.
*EDIT*: I thought an un-install and reinstall might have fixed the solution but I guess not, seeing as it's the 11th here already, I probably have a 24 hour wait for this next "hot fix" to release.

Thanks for the update on v1.06 folks. As soon as the hotfix is live, we'll let you know.
We've tested machines running ZoneAlarm internally and whilst the hotfix may not rectify the problem with ZoneAlarm specifically, allowing the GRID Legends executable in the Program Control list does rectify the issue. We'll revist this later today.

I THINK THE HOTFIX DID IT!!!! launched after update, did the intro race, closed game and I'm not working on my career.

After v1.06's release on March 10th, an additional hotfix is now public on Origin and EA App that aims to resolve the following issues:
If you are still having issues with ZoneAlarm firewall, please add the GRID Legends excecutable file to the 'Allow' list.
