Launcher error 208

[ Edited ]

I wanted to try the game after a long time, so I downloaded the launcher and tried to login but the launcher just hangs and after a time show error 208.

The logs say, that the launcher is unable to download patch manifest

2019-07-25 04:55:00 INFO Download: http://manifest.swtor.com/patch/patcher2017.patchmanifest (159.153.92.50 )
2019-07-25 04:55:56 ERROR Patch manifest state error in patcher2017: DownloadFail (8) (e208)

However it definitely is NOT a networking issue, because I tried to download the manifest via browser and was successful. I also tried it on multiple different networks with the same result.

When I ping http://manifest.swtor.com, I get response.

My firewall is turned off.

Tried multiple reinstalls.

Does EA know their launcher is not working? Does anyone know how to solve the issue or where the problem may be? Standard smile

Or is it possible to download the full game from somewhere, without using launcher?

it needs the manifest, are you 100% certain the firewall is disabled, what are you using ? the number of times i have seen a firewall said disabled and it is still blocking the launcher

without knowing your system , try opening a command prompt as administrator and type  netsh winhttp reset proxy

then try netsh int ip reset  then restart the PC

Antivirus then most likely, make launcher.exe is in the exception list and try running as administrator

ESET - disable "protocol filtering"
Kaperskey - disable "scan secure/encrypted connections"
Norton (Firewall) - set exceptions to "Allow" not "Auto"

nope, I don't use antivirus Standard smile also tried running it as admin.

Also tried installing it on different disks to mitigate the risk that the launcher just did not have permissions to store the files on a disk :/

any proxy settings in the web browser ? the launcher is like a chromium web browser anything that affects a web browser can affect the launcher

nope, no proxy Frown

If I download it on a different machine and then copy the whole content to my machine, will I be able to login? Or will the launcher always try to download that path manifest?

First of all, sorry for later response, I didn't have much time to try it these days Frown

Im using window's default firewall and turning it off via control panel.

Anyway, the

netsh int ip reset

command must have helped! Because Im sure I didn't have any proxy. So it was either this commnad, or launcher's update, because when I tried to open the launcher after pc restart, it got updated. But in the logs it said, that to update it it needed to download that manifest too, which I was unable to download before (via launcher), so it must have been that tcp/ip restart.

Thank you very much! Standard smile
