Keeps stuttering on my alienware on low...

★ Novice

I've troubleshot for a few hours, tried all the forums settings recommendations but this game stutters to the point its unplayable. I have a i7, 16gb ram, 1070. Tried 4k, 1080 on ultra, 1080 on low. Same issue. No running programs, other games running fine. I actually got so frustrated I returned it. I really wanted to play this as I've never really bought a battlefield game before. Bummed.

Try these few things:

  • Perform a clean boot before starting the game: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135
  • If you are on Windows 10, download and install this update: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
  • Via the NVIDIA Control Panel, under Adjust image settings with preview, choose "use my preference" and move the slider all the way left to Performance and then click Apply at the bottom right
  • Your machine might not actually be using your GPU, check the following to make sure your GPU is used when playing: LINK

Let us know how you get on with these here, thanks.

No one solved yet: Please update your Microsoft Basic Render Driver

★ Novice

I have been fixing this problem for days and EA just couldn't help. I saw you answered a post for the same error, and I have tried every step available on the forum which failed, so I am opening a new post.

So I can launch BF 1 fine. I am using a LENOCO LEGION Y520 laptop with GTC1050Ti GPU. So, on hardware, I should have no problem launching BF V.

However, I saw this error message: Please update your Microsoft Basic Render Driver - detected microsoft basic render driver is unknown. the required driver version is AMD, intel, nvidia, etc. or later. please update your driver at amd.com, intel.com, nvidia.com, etc.

Things I have done:

- Reinstall and repair the game

- clear cache of Origin

- use DDU in safe mode to clear all GPU drivers and conduct clean reinstallation in normal mode

- remove anti virus McAfee

- manually select GTX 1050 Ti when launching the game (using GeFroce Experience)

- turn off Intel GPU in device manager

Nothing works out for me. Please help and share your thought, much appreciate!

I would get 1 second stutters with DXR, but it is flawless without DXR. When it happens my FPS and GPU usage drops to low numbers. This still happens after 4/4/2019 update.

Stutter still occurs with DXR with 425.31 Nvidia driver.
