System info:
i7 7700k (4.2ghz)
GTX 1080 (liquid cooled, so thermal throttling isn't an issue)
16gb ddr4 Ram
z270 Stinger MOBO
Samsung 500gb M.2
144hz 1440p Dell G-Sync Monitor
Windows 10 Pro
I play BF4 with no issues, high FPS.
I got BF1 and only started playing it a few days ago.
I let the Nvidia Experience optimize it. It runs great on Ultra, 1440p, and around 70fps or so. Then out of nowhere it will freeze the screen. If I am lucky, I get the little "Battlefield has stopped working...Windows is searching for a solution to the problem..." Dialog so that I at least can just go to desktop. If I am not lucky, the system needs a hard reboot to exit the freeze.
I have tried:
I feel like this is a game issue, since I can play BF4 perfectly. But I am definitely no expert.
Attached is my DxDiag file
What else can I try?
Any help would be extremely appreciated.

Ok....at the risk of jinxing it, I'm gonna say I found the issue.
I had a random BSOD related to the ntoskrnl.exe kernel, and that prompted me to do some resetting/checking.
I did three more things, so it might be one of these:
Since this, I have played for about 4 hours straight with no issues. I really hate not having my FPS counter in the corner, so I may try to re-enable it in GeForce Experience and hope that it wasn't the issue.
Either way, its annoying to have to disable features on your machine to get a game to work, but oh well.

Almost same problem, however I can exit with Ctrl + Alt + Delete and selecting task manager.
Game runs perfectly for some time 5-30min then freeze
I am posting here because I am curious for solutions

It is Interesting how similar our systems are.
Were you ever able to play before without freezing? I am hearing some people say that the latest update made a lot of random issues.

Confirmed !
A complete stock UEFI setting
The problem persisted with even the smallest OC
But I were playing just last week with full OC
No RAM problems here but I also disabled Geforce overlay

The problem has returned for me .....

I'm having a similar issue, only my game won't crash. Instead it will play relatively fine for 10 or so minutes, sometimes a lot more before freezing for a few seconds. This usually causes me to die. Similar specs to everyone else in this thread.

32gb ddr4 3000
samsung m.2 500gb

Hello. This post got my attention because i have similar issues.
After playing 30 minutes or longer in BF1 my PC freezes, 2 out of 3 monitors get black screen and main monitor showing only single frame. Also no audio and all I can do is to hold power button to kill PC. No temperature issues, I guess something wrong with the Nvidia drivers or Windows 10. This happens only in BF1 so far and I bought the game less than a month ago. Sometimes this crash happens on desktop after I exit the BF1.
GPU - GTX 1080 it ASUS
CPU - i7 7700K (no OC)
16GB RAM
MB - ASUS Z270F
SSD - samsung EVO 850 (game is installed on this drive)
main monitor - acer 165hz
OS - Windows10
I hope this topic isn't dead yet
(Also it is my first time taking part in forum)

Hey @ghilliedogge,
feel free to create a new topic - PC tech issues can be very specific due to the configuration options on that platform. What would be very helpful however is a DxDiag report, if you could create and attach one. Here's a post that shows you how this is done.
First thing I would try here is deactivating all unnecessary overlays, programs and processes, ideally by performing a clean boot.
