Getting error "error while retrieving information from server df-dferh-01"

I'm receiving error "error while retrieving information from server df-dferh-01" while trying to purchase the may the 4th crystal bundle in star wars galaxy of heroes on Google Android, note 9.  I've followed every instruction and suggestion I could find about this error, including deleting the cache and data of various google play services, framework, etc...  Also tried deleting the game, reinstall, re adding the google account.  Not encountering this issue with any other apps or purchases either  and also updated the Google play store and rebooted phone after.  When first launching the game it gives me a message saying to make sure I'm connected to a network or that I have a valid billing account, which I have both.  During this message at no point am I not online  and the game even loads and works  normally other than that. Tried on various WiFi networks and mobile. This second message only shows up when first trying to make a purchase after launching the game.  Oddly, I only get this with the 27.99$ Canadian package.  I switched to trying to buy the smallest may the 4th 700 crystal bundle in the same session that failed for the bigger one and it worked without issue. Switched back to the biggest promo one... Same error
