Geme freezes EVERY time I try to start a Player/Connected Franchise

I had to dig out my PS3 for a little while and I'm trying to play a Connected Franchise as a player. I have tried maybe 20 times to start a CF and each and every time I finish editing my player, the game freezes. It doesn't freeze for any other game or at any other point with this game. It's having the same issue on another console, as well. I have tried trading the game for another copy and I have the exact same issue. I have tried deleting the game data and starting w/o updates, and same issue. How do I permanently fix this game-breaking problem?
