Franchise mode crashes

When playing in franchise (the only mode I bought the game for), my custom team defaults to either Arizona or an All Star team when starting a game, causing a crash.

I've followed suggested options for this from other threads, from deleting custom rosters, to totally re-installing the game to ward off corrupted files/saves.

However, none of this has worked & every time I play franchise I get the same issue sooner or later so seasons aren't able to be completed.

What can I do? At the moment the game is a total waste of money.
