I managed to fix it.

 

I looked up what other people were doing to fix this issue. It was easy because this issue is so widespread.

 

All I had to do is install MS Update KB2670838 (Windows 7).

 

According to the internet, it's an optional Platform Update, required to install Internet Explorer 10. Since I never use Internet Explorer, I didn't download this update. Fortunately you don't have to install or update IE10, there's simply something in this platform update that Battlefront 2 requires in order to launch.

 

Maybe the Support peeps can put this in an official FAQ somewhere as another suggestion for a fix.
