Error reading pak file - promo_2020_10_08

Hello, 

I'm able to go into the game and once I landed on the Home page. I exited Apex League and received a below error message. 

Error reading pak file "C:\Users\mypc\Saved Games/Respawn/Apex/assets/11/promo/dl_promo_2020_10_08.rpak" -- Error: Short read.

I tried to repair the game from Origin launcher and it doesn't work. I will be appreciated if someone can help me.

I had the same issue today and I solved it by:

1) deleting the promo_2020_10_08

2) make a copy of promo_2020_10_05 (this file was in the same path as the promo_2020_10_08)

3) rename the copy to "promo_2020_10_08"

I didn't repair the game or anything. It works for me.

Hi @Ganonson, 

If you follow the file path in that error message it should lead you to the particular .rpak file that's causing the issue. If you can find the file please try renaming it, then repair Apex Legends in Origin once more. 

See if you're able to launch the game after that. Let me know how it goes when you've got the chance. Thanks!

I tried

1. rename the file to "dl_promo_2020_10_08_old.rpak" and Go to Origin Launch and click on "repair". I launched the game and received the same error message. I checked the folder it has the "dl_promo_2020_10_08.rpak" in my folder again. 
2. I rename the file to "dl_promo_2020_10_08_old.rpak"  and launch the game. I received the same error message. When I checked the folder. it created a new file call "dl_promo_2020_10_08.rpak" - I have the same error message and unable to play the game

I'm also having the same problem. Tried repairing files, tried deleting this file and then restarting game. It redownloads the file but still doesn't work.

 depends on timing wether it works or not, but try this! (u have to do it EVERY TIME you lauch the game):

1. Start Apex Legends

2.go in Win+R and r and open "%USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\Respawn\Apex\assets"

3.After pressing "Continue" tab out of the game and delete the "11"-Folder

Thank you @95_SmolPPKnight . it works! FYI, there is a new update from Apex League and the file is called promo_2020_10_13. my game still crashes with the new update. but I used @95_SmolPPKnight solution. I renamed the promo_2020_10_05 to promo_2020_10_13.
