Continued Issues with Events

Hi! I have had repeated problems with events in my game and each time I contact EA support, they just send me links on how to troubleshoot when I have already done so. In my Sims Mobile game, I have been unable to play the last 3 Sweet Treat Showdowns-the "start" button simply does not work. Also, one of my sims has their energy board thing permenently stuck on the one that should appear during the Sweet Treat event. I am unsure what I can do to fix this.
