If you're still not able to connect can you try these steps below to see if they help reconnect you. It's strange if you're not able to connect unless you go VPN. Have you all tried changing data centers from the connection screen?
If they fail, please run a UO Trace to see how your connection is reaching our severs. It will let you know if there is a network outage potentially coming from your ISP.
