Cannot find an online opponent in Nhl 18

I played for 3 days no problems and then BAM cannot find a single opponent. Even when friends invite me I can join but we wont be able to actually start a game at all. I have reinstalled the game, reset my xbox and router. I even looked at videos on possible fixes and the only one I found that made sense brought up that this was an issue in NHL 17 too and you had to buy another router to fix the issue. I didnt pay $60 to have to buy another router because EA decided not to fix an issue the previous game had. If there is a fix that doesnt involve buying another router please id love to know. I just want to play hockey.
