CPU Usage at 100%- GPU usage at 50%. HELP ME!

★★ Novice

Hello so I've bought this game for full retail price, and I was certain that my PC can run this no problems at all.
After I downloaded and everything, on 64 man servers I'm getting really really really bad FPS ( 20-45) when I know I should be getting 60-120 FPS

Turns out my CPU is using 100% of it, while my GPU is only using 50-60%.

My rig is :
MSI GTX 1060 3GB
I5-6500
RAM 8 GB
PSU 600W

I tried everything, configs...overclocking my GPU...everything.
I updated drivers, I did everything....still nothing.

Please help me!

Hey  @Giirmo and welcome to Answers HQ!

Your system's CPU is below the minimum specs for this game while your GPU is right in the recommended slot.

Spoiler
MINIMUM SPECS
  • OS: 64-bit Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10
  • Processor (AMD): AMD FX-6350
  • Processor (Intel): Core i5 6600K
  • Memory: 8GB RAM
  • Graphics card (AMD): AMD Radeon™ HD 7850 2GB
  • Graphics card (NVIDIA): nVidia GeForce® GTX 660 2GB
  • DirectX: 11.0 Compatible video card or equivalent
  • Online Connection Requirements: 512 KBPS or faster Internet connection
  • Hard-drive space: 50GB
RECOMMENDED SPECS
  • OS: 64-bit Windows 10 or later
  • Processor (AMD): AMD FX 8350 Wraith
  • Processor (Intel): Intel Core i7 4790 or equivalent
  • Memory: 16GB RAM
  • Graphics card (AMD): AMD Radeon™ RX 480 4GB
  • Graphics card (NVIDIA): NVIDIA GeForce® GTX 1060 3GB
  • DirectX: 11.1 Compatible video card or equivalent
  • Online Connection Requirements: 512 KBPS or faster Internet connection
  • Available Disk Space: 50GB

This means it should not come as a surprise that your CPU is holding back your GPU. 50% still sound a bit on the low side so perhaps you could try closing down background applications tuning your graphics settings to be more GPU heavy and less CPU heavy.

Wrong, I see people with worse CPU and getting better FPS.

Irrelevant. You can always find people with worse PC's getting more FPS than you and people with better PC's getting worse FPS than you - this doesn't really say much about anything.

In any case, what settings are you running?

Try reading http://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues/READ-FIRST-How-To-Get-A-Response-To-Your-Technical-Issue/m... and add the dxdiag and other relevant information to this thread.

@Giirmo

Try to lock your framerate in video settings of the game

It can help you to reduce your CPU usage, try to set 60 fps first and check the usage.

★ Guide

Please keep in mind the Minimum Requirements for a CPU to run Battlefield 1 is an i5-6600K

Install HWmonitor here and take a screenshot of your CPU temperature under load (when BF1 is running mid-game)

Extremely high temperatures can cause thermal throttling

.

Turn down your CPU and GPU to the original clock speeds if you have overclocked it before

Keep us updated ^^

I would cap to 120 or even 60, but most of the time on 64 player servers, I don't even hit 60 constantly, and I tried everything.

It just makes the screen tearing worse.

Hello @Garem0,

Have you tried making sure that DX11 is enabled?

Also, try running your Video Settings on Medium-High, depending on your current PC build.

There are also other settings you can tamper with in the Video settings that my clear up this issue you are having.

If you are unable to get this solved, you are also able to contact a Technical Support Specialist via EA Chat over at:

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

Thanks Standard smile
