Battlefield 1: You have lost connection to the EA servers

★★ Novice

I installed Battlefield 1 and played roughly 20-30 games without problem.

All of a sudden I get the error "You have lost connection to the EA servers".  Sometimes when in the menu, or if I have joined a game I can play for between 1-10 minutes and then get kicked with the same error.

I've made no changes to my computer.

My ping in game and out is roughly 20-40ms with no spikes.

I've tried disabling windows firewall.  I have no antivirus.

I've tried removing everything else from my network, restarting/resetting routers etc.

Other games (steam games, this is the only Origin game I play online) have no issues at all with maintaining a connection. It's only Battlefield 1.

Anything else I can do other than wipe my windows install and start again?

I've been connecting to a VPN based in Sydney and haven't been kicked for about three hours. Then I disconnected from the VPN and was kicked within about 20 minutes with the same error.

From that it seems the issue is outside of my network and not my software/hardware. Seems promising so far.

EDIT: I haven't been kicked once in 3 days when connecting through a VPN.

I uninstalled Origin, re-installed it and now no problems. Not sure if this actually was the fix or not.

Hey pHill-Ace.  I'm not in Sydney, I'm in Brisbane.  So instead of connecting from Brisbane -> EA Servers, my traffic is going from Brisbane -> Sydney -> EA Servers.

I suspect there's some problem outside of my local network.

If you want to try the solution that worked for me, try using a VPN.

I'm pretty sure NordVPN gives a three day free trial if you wanted to see if it works for you.
