Battlefield 1 Instantly Crashes on Launch

★ Novice

Hello,

Battlefield 1 instantly crashes every time I launch the game from Origin. I click on "Play Now" and this happens: See attached file "BF1 Instant crash".

Using the "Repair" doesn't fix the problem. Neither does disabling firewall, antivirus options or closing down all the background processes I can.

Only started using Origin Access as of this morning and checked on Battlefield 1 (with thoughts of buying it) thanks to my free 10 hour play. Yet I've spent a chunk of time trying to get the game to launch.

Event Viewer shows a normal app crash log:

Running latest 375.57 WHQL drivers on up-to-date Windows 8.1 Pro x64. Due to reasonable privacy concerns on an open forum, I can only provide dxdiag file on requests via PM. Have no issues running BF3/BF4 or any of my other games.

Thanks.

Problem solved.

I have a ASUS Maximus VIII Ranger motherboard with SONIC SUITE PLUGIN SUITE.

deleted this plugin and game now runs.

May have helped you but I don't have that software installed, thanks anyway for the suggestion though.

Even installed the beta version of Origin and that didn't change a thing, neither did running authenticator or bf1 or bf1 trial exe's in admin mode via compatibility selection.

The issue seems to be fixed but I haven't tested for long enough to be sure. Will update this thread once I'm satisfied than quickly confirm it solved after just 15 minutes testing.

SOLUTION, FINALLY!

Nvidia's Game Ready driver, 375.57 WHQL was the culprit, now using 375.63 WHQL. This is what Nvidia recommends for Battlefield 1 after many, many gamers complained of various Battlefield 1 stability/performance issues. Will feed this back to Nvidia too.

GOOD DRIVER HYGIENE IF PREVIOUS ONE WAS THE ISSUE BY DESIGN

Ensure you run a clean install via advanced settings. Because I'd already ruled out practically everything else I already suspected it was either the drivers (crashes on window launch instantly) or the executable required patching. In such cases, I uninstall all Nvidia driver components (including Experience), restart in safe-mode and ran Display Driver Uninstaller. Once back at Windows desktop in normal mode proceed to run the very latest driver, ie 375.63 WHQL (as of Oct 24th 2016).

Leaving feedback as it will likely help others.
