BFV: Crashing Windows on Quit to Desktop

★★★ Newbie

Whenever I go and quit to desktop after running BFV there's a 60% chance it completely freezes the game forcing me to hard reset my PC

The main menu freezes on my screen and the cursor reverts back to my Windows cursor instead of the BFV one, I can move the mouse around but I can't access task manager or even end the process blind through hotkeys. It seems as though everything but my cursor has frozen. I've tried leaving it for up to 30 minutes but it just stays the same leaving me to hold the power button for 5 seconds to reboot.

I should add that this has happened once outside of quitting the game but it was a particularly intense event during a match involving soldiers, tanks, planes and a V1 rocket exploding simultaneously

The easiest work around I found is to Alt+Tab out of the game and close it via task manager instead of using either of the "Quit" buttons on the games menu screen, but I was hoping to find a solution as well as share my woes for any others experiencing the same problem

My version of Windows and NVIDIA drivers are always kept updated and I have no performance issues with the game itself

I understand that there are a few teething problems and bugs that are being addressed in the currently delayed content update, but I want to play BFV without worrying about my storage devices being corrupted

I appreciate any time and response you can give me,

Thanks

Hey @Beraserker,

Thank your for all the information you provided.

Here are some steps that you can try, to see if it alleviates the issue:

1. Make sure you're running DX11, instead of DX12

2. Turn off Origin in-game Overlay in the Origin Launcher, and any other Overlays you may be using(Discord, Nvidia GeForce Experience, etc)

3. Clear Origin Cache: https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/faq/clear-cache-to-fix-problems-with-your-games/

4. Uninstall/Reinstall Origin: https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/origin/origin/manually-uninstalling-origin/

5. Clean Boot: https://help.ea.com/en/help/faq/how-to-clean-boot-your-pc/

6. CCleaner: https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/pc/how-to-use-ccleaner-to-fix-pc-issues/

Hopefully one of these steps works out for you.

Let us know.
