Apex Legends won't launch [PC]

★★★ Novice

I recently built a new PC and installed Apex on it. Unfortunately, however, I've been completely unable to even launch the game since I downloaded it last week. When I try to launch the game (from the desktop or from origin) the Easy Anti-Cheat window opens, loads and disappears (as I suspect is normally the case). However, my origin client then pops back up and my game doesn't launch.

Here are the fixes I've already tried:

- Updating nVidia drivers

- Turned my overclock on and off

- Uninstalled and reinstalled Apex

- Repaired Apex

- Updated Apex

- Repaired Easy Anti-Cheat

- Changed the language to Polish and back to English

- Checked Windows Firewall Defender to ensure Apex is allowed

- Run in administrator mode and compatibility mode

- I've tried moving it to my HDD and then back onto my SSD

Is anyone going through a similar problem? I would love to be able to actually play lol

My Specs in case they help:

RTX2070

i5-9600K (overclocked)

16gb DDR4 ram

Hi, as it turned out I believe Sophos Home was preventing from launching. I don't know how or why as I checked it and sure enough there was no record of it blocking any Apex files from working but, upon uninstalling Sophos, I was able to launch Apex instantly.

It's possible there is a program running in the background conflicting with Origin and Easy Anti-Cheat. Have you tried performing a clean boot and then immediately launching Origin as administrator?

Hey. I also have this problem. Game loads, shows me the Respawn Entertainment intro, the EA logo and then shuts down right as it starts to load the game(black background, red Apex logo bottom right). No Error message, no nothing. tried all of the steps above + clean boot. Still shuts down. Frown

Have you got any other anti-virus or anti-malware software installed? I’m very new to the PC scene so the only advice I could give is to uninstall any of that software but if you don’t then I really have no idea sorry Frown

edit: I didn’t read your response properly but I think we had different issues because my game didn’t even get to the respawn and ea logos it just didn’t run the launch sequence full stop

I have this same issue with Apex and sophos home.

Please try to go into your settings (on that web page that opens) .  Turn off exploit mitigation and see if you can launch the game.

Thanks

Go to sophos settings
Then to Exploits -> Exploit Migation -> Advanced Settings
Then disable:
- Prevent APC violation
- Prevent code cave utilization

UPDATE:
I seem to have found a better way.
If you open Sophos on your computer
At the bottom got to troubleshooting
Then add Local Exclusions, add both Apex and Easy anti cheat.
They should by default be located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Apex\

Alternative use the above
