Had the same problem. with Gsync on there was no error message at all. When i turned it off i had that error message. And when i switched the tripple buffering off it stopped. Now i can turn on Gsync in nvidia again with no crashing problems.

In order to fix the crashing issue you have to go to Settings--- Video and lower the Texture Streaming Budget.(It should say 8gb or 4b of Vram) This helped me with my crashes and I hope that it will help you as well.

I had the error "DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG" and nothing worked for me. But this fixed me: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UyLWjfoQ294 only with the drivers 417.71. I could not even finish only one game for a week, and I just played 4 hours ! I have all of my graphic in low, full screen windowsed, 4Go VRAM.
My config : i7700k no OC, Zotac Gaming RTX 2080Ti no OC

@Zetmor wrote:Ok for you it is not a driver issue. But for other people, IT IS a nvidia driver issue.
I could not run the game, almost at all: could not finish the tutorial, and the game would crash in a minute or two. I had the 418.81 nvidia driver.
And as mentionned before, I just uninstalled the 418.81 (with DDU), and I have installed the 417.35 one (12.12.2018).
And I did not have a single crash since with that driver: I played the whole week-end (maybe 50 games?): I'm level 16.
My setup:
CPU Intel Core i9-9900K @ 4.8 GHz
GPU Gigabyte RTX 2080 Ti GAMING OC 11G
I've also set the max fps to 120 with the advanced launch option "+max_fps 120" (game properties), V-Sync on Double Buffered mode. All settings maxed out.
(the max_fps is to limit to my monitor best rate, and also give the GPU some margin, but that was NOT the fix, it was also crashing with "+max_fps 120" with the 418.81 driver)
So yep, it IS a nvidia driver issue, for some people.
Sorry I don't have a clue for the AMD users though.
Sorry, but for the most nvidia users IT ISNT a driver issue.

After downgrading my Nvidia Drivers from 418.81 to an older one, I lose my monitor resolution and I go down from 165 Hz to 60 Hz.
How do I maintain those settings after downgrading?
