Any hope for true positional audio in VR?

★★★ Apprentice

I'm really enjoying this game in VR (waiting for low refresh rate patch, but still fun in the meantime). What irks me a little is that audio is not really positional in game. It is in stereo obviously, so left and right are distinguishable, but front and back sound exactly the same and not really positional at all.

As low priority as something like this likely is, I'd love to see (or rather hear) it added at some point. It could elevate the experience even further, not only in the cutscenes but in battle as well.

Just took a trip to practice mode with my VR and ran a few tests.

Standard oculus with its included headphone setup seemed to be bad for forward rear audio.

Switched back to my 7.1 Steel Series headset....directional sound seemed correct with this setup.

What audio setup are you using? That may be to blame.

Good luck!

Valve Index, should not be a problem technically.

Index has really great audio.

After playing for a few hours tonight, I really see what you mean.

They shots lack real direction BANG! Playing in practice listening intently doesnt transfer into game well

But you're saying there is better positional audio on your 7.1 headset? That gives me hope that it might actually be easy to implement for Index as well.
