I started the SWTOR launcher to update to 5.9.3. The launcher is currently at Installing 50% and has been stuck there for two hours. Any suggestions on how to re-initialize the update?

I would ensure that launcher.exe is in all the exception lists for the antivirus and firewall
You can also try triggering a verification scan per this guide link

Thank you for a link to the guide. It seems to be working now.

Apparently, I spoke too soon. The client re-verified but the install is stuck at 50%. Do I need to un-install and re-install the game?

Hard to say , I would be looking very hard at the antivirus if this is stopping in the same location each time.
I vaguely recall a similar thread recently with 50ish percent stop in that case the player was using bitdefender and it was blocking

Thank you for your advise. I do have bitdefender. I turned it off, reset the computer and tried to run the launcher again. It still seem to be stuck at 50%. Other than completely uninstalling bitdefender and trying to run the launcher again, any other suggestions?

I believe the last i mentioned to the other thread was to uninstall bitdefender to be 100% certain it is the cause, if it was they needed to raise the issue with bitdefender.
However i never heard back. I found the previous thread it was 2 weeks ago at this link

Interesting development: I went through the process to re-sync the client (in safe mode) and ran the launcher as admin in safe mode. In safe mode with network, the launcher says the installation at 100% but will not continue (even after sitting for over two hours). If I reboot into normal mode, the launcher says installation is at 50% and stays at 50%. Thinking back, I left the launcher to install the patch (I have DSL) overnight. When I came back in the morning, the computer was restarted like a windows patch downloaded and installed over night. Is it possible that restarting durin the middle of the patch mess it up? If so, how do I fix it?

Thank you for all the help. I had to switch to non streaming mode to make any progress. Its re-downloading the game. Since I'm on DSL, it will take about a day to download and install. I'll let you know where I end up.
