sound not working for sims 3or4

my sims 3 or sims 4 will not play the sound at anytime from start up to into playing the games. What do I need to do?

@amberperalez Try deleting options.ini for each game. There's one copy each in the Sims 3 and Sims 4 folders in Documents\Electronic Arts.

If that doesn't help either, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

And let me know what you're using for sound output: headphones, built-in speakers, or standalone speakers, and what kind of connection they use.
