sims cannot preform tasks

help!!! I will tell my sim to do tasks like sleep or play the piano, and she will start them but then immediately get up. This stops whenever I close and re-open my game but starts again, and is happening sooner each time. Please help!!

Please also let me know whether this happens in a new save.  I'm not saying you need to abandon your current save, just that it's a useful test.
