I encountered this problem for the first time last week. While playing a regular game, I experience regular freezing. The cursor is still moveable, but when over clickable objects nothing highlights, and all the Sims go still. I am also unable to switch between Sims in the household and I can't change speeds. On another note, the super speed doesn't occur when all Sims are asleep or when everyone is at work and/or school. It's very difficult to play with these issues.
