scratched disk; unable to install with no original code

im trying to install the sims 3 pets using a disk, but im getting a cylic redundancy check error code that i've learned is due to the disk being scratched. this disk is pretty old, and i dont even have the case for it anymore; nor do i have the original code, so i was using one that i found online. the game is unable to be downloaded due to the scratched disk, and since i dont have the original key anymore, im also unable to register it on thesims3.com. is there any way at all i can get my pack to download, or will i have to buy a whole new disk?

@heckypants  Unfortunately, there's probably nothing you can do here.  It's only possible to download a pack if it's registered to your account, and it sounds like your original product code wouldn't even be in your computer.  You can check though, especially if you still have access to a system where Pets was installed using the original code; here's where you would find it:

Buying another disc is an option, but so would be buying a digital copy from EA.  This might be cheaper if you already have the base game registered—Sims 3 packs are sometimes 50% off in Origin and the EA App.  They can also be 50% off in Steam, with all packs together being discounted even further, but you'd need to buy another copy of the base game in Steam before you could buy any packs.
