scaling objects cheat won't work properly [ Edited ]

So i usually add cars to my sim's house lots and i have recently run into an issue. whenever i try to rescale the objects i'm using (i press Shift+[ or ] so hopefully that was right) it will just lift the object into the air or down again. I'm hoping i am just missing a super easy thing and i was just being a ditz because i really don't want to have to re download anything and take the mods and CC off my game and put them on again. the only mods i have are the mods to remove the blur/mosaic so i can play it more realistically and the other mods i have already removed because they were causing issues.

Try right clicking the game in Origin, and choose 'repair game'.

Could you also try a factory reset:

What happens with the 9 and 0 keys when you have testingcheat on?

Did the Sims 3 options turn off maybe?

the 9 and 0 keys will still make the objects move up or down but now the brackets does that as well. i'll try going through my settings and see if something did get turned off though.
