@brookiealison789  You don't need to use Origin to launch the game—just double-click on the base game icon in Applications.

If you want to get rid of the Origin error though, you can run the Origin reset tool for macs:

@brookiealison789  Okay, is this the first time you've installed TS3 on this computer?  Did you download the base game only, or did you get the Starter Pack?  (This comes with Late Night and High-End Loft Stuff, and it would make one additional fix necessary.)  Also, have you restarted your computer since you installed?  Try launching the game right after a restart, with no other apps open.

Re: redownloading sims 3, unknown error

@brookiealison789  How does it work if you try to launch the game immediately after restarting your computer?  If that doesn't help, try bypassing the launcher:

Re: redownloading sims 3, unknown error

@brookiealison789  Alright, can you take screenshots of the text in your graphicscards and graphicsrules files?  (The ones in the Bin folder inside Package Contents.)  Sometimes TextEdit plays games with the quotation marks, and it's really hard to tell the difference unless you're looking for it.  To take a screenshot, use cmd-shift-4 and drag your cursor over the section of the screen you want to capture.  You can attach the files to a post, or insert them directly into the text body.

For graphicscards, the text should be short.  For graphicsrules, screenshot these lines:

elseif (match("${cardName}", "*Broadwell*"))
seti cardLevel $cardLevelMedium
seti isCardMatched true
elseif (match("${cardName}", "*IntelIrisGraphics6000*"))
seti cardLevel $cardLevelMedium
seti isCardMatched true
elseif (match("${cardName}", "*IntelHD6000*"))
seti cardLevel $cardLevelMedium
seti isCardMatched true
elseif (match("${cardName}", "*Skylake*"))
seti cardLevel $cardLevelMedium
seti isCardMatched true
elseif (match("${cardName}", "*KabyLake*"))
seti cardLevel $cardLevelMedium
seti isCardMatched true
elseif (match("${cardName}", "*IntelIrisPlus*"))
seti cardLevel $cardLevelMedium
seti isCardMatched true
else
seti cardLevel $cardLevelLow
seti isCardMatched true

You can use cmd-F to search for the word "Broadwell"; that should take you right to the text.

Re: redownloading sims 3, unknown error

@brookiealison789  Could you take screenshots though?  The text can be modified by copying it into a reply.  A screenshot will capture what the text looks like inside your own files, without passing through AHQ's filter.
