not downloading from disk

Last christmas my sister and I received a copy of The Sims 4 as a shared gift, as my first sims game i was overjoyed and we spent hours waiting for it to download on my mums old computer. I have finally gotten myself one that I can use for sims but when I put the disk in my new computer the autorun wouldn't work and then when i manually started the autorun it had an error trying to download origin and then the download just stopped altogether. Origin was, however on my desktop, I clicked on it and finished the download then tried to install the sims onto the app with no luck. I'm extremely disappointed and if there isn't a simple solution (such as I've done something terribly wrong) I don't think i'll buy anything from EA in the future.
