multiple and random crashes

I am having a lot of issues with the game crashing. Sometimes it's within the first 10 minutes of play, and other times the game can run for hours without crashing. It is almost every time one of my sims leaves the home lot, but it also crashes pretty frequently without the traveling. I'm not sure what's up, so I thought I'd check here to see if anyone could help. Thanks.
