lost saved game after Win 10 install

I had windows 10 installed, replaced windows 7. I backed up my files on a external hd. after getting my computer back, I had to reinstall Sims 4. The game is starting from the beginning, like we have never played before. I can't get the saved game to load or whatever it needs to do. Is all that progress lost? Any help appreciated.

@jtberry2000 Did you place the save files back into the sims 4 saves folder?

@jtberry2000  Inside your old Sims 4 game folder, the one that was in Documents\Electronic Arts before you backed it up to an external drive, is a folder called Saves.  This holds all of your saves from when you played in Windows 7.  Now that you've reinstalled under Windows 10, your current game folder is new, so Saves would be empty.  Go into Saves inside the old game folder that you backed up, highlight all the files, and right-click and select Copy.  Then open Saves inside the new game folder, right-click on the blank space, and Paste.
