@kelleybb1024 You could probably play, at least provided the laptop is in reasonably good shape overall. But you'd likely be limited to low settings, and high poly (high resolution) custom content might be a problem. Additionally, you'd need to manage the drive space very carefully. While 128 GB is technically enough for Windows and Sims 4, it doesn't leave a lot of room for cc, or for other apps or data.
Do you have this laptop already? If not, there may be better options. If you're interested in seeing some, just list your budget and country, as well as any other considerations that matter to you.
If you already have the laptop, you could buy the Sims 4 base game and see how it goes. If it turns out you really can't play the game the way you want to, you can request a refund from EA within 24 hours of first launching it. (It also has to be less than 14 days since you bought it.) The refund process is automatic; no need to go through customer support.

i don’t have the laptop yet, my budget is very limited i only have like 300 and it was very cheap on ebay, can you recommend any with that budget?

also i had a pc with close to the same specs but it had 1tb space and it ran well

@kelleybb1024 Are you shopping in the U.S.? If so, you can get a significantly better laptop for $300 on Ebay. For example, this one, if it's in good condition, would run Sims 4 on ultra graphics settings, although at a lower resolution (not 4k).
This isn't as good but would also do fine:
As would any in this category:

There are too many options to list, but all of them would be better than the one you're considering. If you do find one you like, now or later, feel free to link it here for a second opinion.

i found this one do you think it can run fast with mods and cc https://www.ebay.com/itm/Dell-Latitude-Gaming-Laptop-HD-LED-Intel-Core-i5-16GB-RAM-256GB-SSD-HDMI-/3...

@kelleybb1024 No, it wouldn't run Sims 4 well at all, probably not on more than low settings. It has only an integrated graphics chip, and one that's five years old. All the laptops I listed are significantly better for Sims 4, as would pretty much any system that had a dedicated graphics card.

what about an alienware laptop? I'm thinking of buying one from Dell.com
July 2020
@jmelrokmi Alienware laptops come in a variety of configurations, but I believe even the baseline configuration would run Sims 4 on ultra settings, at least among the new models. (If you want to make sure, please link a specific model so I can check.) Alienwares are expensive though, usually more expensive than their hardware justifies.
If you'd like other opinions, let me know your budget and country, as well as any other details that matter to you, or any other games you'd like to be able to play.

Thank you for your help. I really want to invest in something that is going to last me a long time and potentially play sims 5. More of an investment not just something to get by for now. If that makes sense.

Here are a few I was looking into....Mainly looking to get one through Dell due to my husbands huge discount. I know ASUS ROG is another great laptop but I think with his discount it is still better for us to go through Dell.
Forgot to add Im in the United States, no real budget.
