I've owned the game for 4 years but I have never tried installing it until today and origin is telling me that the product code has already been used. What do i do?

Seems that someone else at some point installed it or it was a used game you bought. Used games can not be resold as the key is tied to the Origin account when it is first redeemed.

Since you got it that long ago it is unlikely that you can get it exchanged but you can try if you still have the receipt.

If you can show proof that you bought it from an authorized/trusted seller, try contacting EA's customer service. They might be able to help.
