Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? Game will not launch to access menu screen
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Sims 4 Cats and Dogs, Sims 4 Seasons, Sims 4 Parenthood, Sims 4 Strangerville, Sims 4 Kids Room Stuff, Sims 4 Laundry Day, Awesome Animal Hats, Life of the Party, Holiday Celebration, Up All Night
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? When attempting to launch the Sims from Origin after the most recent patch (related to eco living), I received error 135dec40:29f00e76:00000084:18a1dd51 Initialization error at start up. I attempted to update and repair the game from Origin, but continued to receive the same error. I then uninstalled and reinstalled. Since then I am receiving "The Sims 4 is already running" errors ed35e0ea:29f00e76:00000000:18a1dd51.
What happens when the bug occurs? On attempting to launch, the error message pops up immediately. Clicking OK sends me back to Origin startup.
What do you expect to see? I expect the game to launch.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Never used.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes
Please describe the patch or change you made. Updating the game for the eco living base game update

After updating the game for the eco living base game update, I received the first error message (sims4 startup error.png) every time

After uninstalling and then reinstalling the game, I receive the second error message (sims4 startup error2.png) every time

@eidheann  These are both known issues.  For the second error, try the steps listed here:

Sorry I did searches for the error codes and didn't find anything.

 

I'll give those a try. Thank you.

Unable to start - initialization error at startup

Origin updated SIMS4.  When done I tried to start the game and got the error "Unable to start - Initialization error at startup"

 

How is this fixed?

 

How does one uninstall and reinstall Sims 4?

You probably don't need to uninstall Sims 4, and it probably wouldn't help.  But if you'd like to try anyway, open your Origin game library, right-click on the Sims 4 icon, and select Uninstall.
