Work Performance Bug?

★★★ Newbie

I've looked at all the other relevant threads and although there are similar aspects, it not quite the same for me:

- Sims 4 on Mac

- recent purchase, June 20th 2015

- no mods, no cheats.. brand new

My problem is with work performance progression. I have two sims, the first sim progressed to level 8 of the culinary career with no problem whatsoever, the second sim progressed to level 3 of Tech Guru Career with no problems, its at this point, trying to progress to level 4, that the performance problems started with that sim. The next "sim day" the problem began with other sim trying to reach level 9 of culinary.

Details of problem:

- daily tasks completed 100%

- requirements met

- ideal mood (focused, ect), sometimes achieved (always with culinary sim)

- all needs met (green)

- The sim begins work with everything right, but the small, white arrow, that moves up and down the bottom of the performance bar, remains at its point and does not move at all, up or down, and no signaling to good or bad performance (no red or green small arrows in the middle of the performance bar).

Initially i thought I must have missed something that was required (or that it was frozen) so I just allowed the sim to finish work, sporadically checking back to see if there was any change - none, the white arrow remained in the same place. However when the sim finished work there was a significant, immediate drop in performance - similar to another thread - http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-4-Bug-Reports/Sim-Work-Performance-Sudden-Drop-Bug-with-known-caus... . In this thread the person says its down to getting the "get a promotion" whim but I really am not sure I had seen that whim yet... again, not sure.

Tried again the next day and thought i might have been on the wrong "action" at work so switched to "work hard", (this is whats weird and frustrating) when I switched, the white arrow moved up one click and the green arrow moved up to the top, back to the middle and then froze, not moving again until i selected another "action" and they would then do the exact same thing and freeze. Some of the "actions" would have no reaction but "work hard" and "socialise with coworkers" would usually (but not always) make the arrows move and freeze.

I then thought it was the relationships with the the coworkers that were affecting it so became good friends and best friends with all - still same result.

It affects the other sim the exact same way (from the day after it began with the other).

I managed to get the tech guru career sim a promotion by staying on him at work for days clicking back and forward between the two "actions" until the arrow got to the top, the top tick never lit up but still got the promotion. AND the next day at work the sim progressed normally BUT ONLY FOR THAT DAY, back to the same again now.. so frustrating! Oh and i made sure to look out for the "get a promotion" whim, so I could cancel it and it didn't come up.

I did the same with the culinary career sim and got to the top and the top tick lit up but no promotion, the white arrow jumped back down when sim finished work.

I kept trying since but given up now really

Arrrgh

Re: Work Performance Bug?

Hero

Did you try ,moving the Sim out and back in via Manage household ?

Also did you try closing the game and then try the other Sims again to see if it maybe spread from the faulty Sim ?

Is the other Sim also a Sim in your household ?

No I have not tried moving the Sim out and back in via Manage household, I'll give that a try.

Have closed the game multiple times and tried again, No change

Both sims are in the one household.

Re: Work Performance Bug?

Hero

Are the other Sims also still all affected ?

Can you try manually promoting the one Sim that was faulty in the beginning:

Careers.promote <NameOfCareer>

Also willing to share your save game to be forwarded ?

If so, please zip up this folder: documents\electronicarts\thesims4\saves, upload to mediafire or dropbox and PM me the link.

I know this is old, but it was never resolved and my sim household is having the same problem, so I'm wondering if the OP ever found a fix.

Could you just create a new thread, describing exactly what you see now ?

Thanks

Other than the date and careers and me being on PC I could copy paste the original, which describes my problem in precise detail and never got a fix.  That is why I'm just me-too-ing it.  But as we appear to be the only two people with this problem in three years, I'd wager EA won't consider it worth their time.

I can work around it this problem by, while my sims are at work, occasionally switching them between "work hard" and "normal", manually making the white arrow jump forward a tiny bit at a time.  That's less trouble than trying to recreate the post at that level of detail.  Hope the workaround is helpful to anyone who, like me, finds this thread by googling their problem.

Problem with these old posts is that they don't use the bug template which makes it insanely difficult to properly handle them for me like the ones that do.

If you create a new thread, you're prompted to fill out all kinds of useful information that can help the devs.

As you can see, I was asking for info in this thread that I never got and very few people actually seem to have the issue.

Up to you what you wanna do of course but there's definitely more info needed then has been given so far..
