Re: Will this laptop be able to run Sims 4

@IsabelBasson  Between the two you found, the first one is clearly better on all fronts: stronger processor, faster integrated graphics chip, more memory.  I don't know what price you're seeing on the Dell, but you may be able to do better for your money.

Among the options I saw for under R10 000, this one has the strongest hardware.  It's a few years old (but apparently still "new"), which is why it's cheaper.  It's an entry-level gaming laptop with a dedicated graphics card (an Nvidia 950m) that would run all of Sims 4 on high graphics settings.

The one thing to keep in mind is that if you bought it, you'd probably need to wipe the hard drive and reinstall Windows, since the existing version would be several years out of date.  This isn't overly complicated—you'd just need access to a computer running Windows 10 and a USB stick you didn't mind erasing.

If you're not interested in going through that though, this is the next best model I saw.  It has an MX130 graphics card as well, one that's slower than the one in the above laptop but still somewhat faster than the integrated chip in the Dell you found.  In case you need extra storage, this one has a combination 256 GB SSD (small and extremely fast)/1 TB HDD (slower but large enough for all your extra files).

I'm not sure how much delivery would cost, or whether that site is displaying VAT for that matter, so here are a couple other options.  This one is as low as I'd go.  Its processor and graphics chip are essentially equal to the one in the Dell, and although it only has 4 GB RAM, you could add another 4 GB pretty cheaply.  Its hard drive is a mechanical drive, so it would be slower, but if you need the extra storage, that's usually the tradeoff.  (You wouldn't need the extra space for Sims 4, but maybe you have other plans for the laptop.)

I'm not sure whether this one is available, but if so, it would also be a good option.  Its graphics card (an MX150) is faster than the MX130 but slower than the 950M.

This is the cheapest I saw the Dell you listed, although I didn't do a thorough search:

If you'd like me to check other sites, please link them.  I'm not at all sure I covered the usual suspects, given that this is only my second time looking at options in South Africa.

Oh wow!

Thank you so much for going above and beyond! I appreciate it soooo much!

I am not a tech guru in any sense of the word, so this helped me extremely!

I decided to go with the Gaming Acer Aspire that you recommended in your second link

Thank you so much again!
