Why won't Sims 3 work on Windows 10

★★★ Newbie

I have re-downloaded Sims 3 onto my new laptop today, I used to play it on Windows 7 and It worked fine but for some reason it won't run correctly. It brings up the game launcher but once I press play nothing happens. The Sims 3 icon shows up on the task bar but the game never loads. Is there anyway to fix this or is the game just not compatible with Windows 10?

@bluebelle2223 hi there

Please take a look and try these suggestions here as well as trying to run Sims 3 as administrator:
Right-click on the Sims 3 icon on your desktop and choose run as administrator

Let me know how it goes!

Which was it that worked for you? I am having the same issue and nothing has worked for me so far.

Try to change the compatibility settings for the game. Sims is  a old game that might have trouble on a windows 10 computer. Right click the sims startbutton and go for Properties. There should be a tab with compatibility. Good luck.

I went into my documents folder, under my sims game and deleted the saved games folder. Then I went under the MODs folder and deleted my Resource.cfg file. If you do a lot of custom content downloads like I do, I find this method very helpful.

After these couple of quick steps, my game fired up and loaded with no problem. I saved the first game, then went in and installed my custom content..

Hope it helps.
