Why do I have to go through origin to download a game?

Why do I have to go through Origin to download a game that I purchased. I do not like Origin and it takes too long to download. I like it the old way when you could just download from the cd.

That's just how EA games work. No way around it really. Download speeds depend on your internet though, not Origin.

@bodacious43   As this game has been out for a while now if you install from the dvd the game will try to update through Origin which the install will take longer then installing straight through Origin. Origin is like Steam and is the DRM for this game as stated Origin is required (even if you install from disc) to use this software. You can also check Sims 4 for Xbox One and PS4. I don't play PC games on consoles so I don't know how TS4 is the same as the pc version.
