Thread stuck in driver

★ Novice

I have played sims for many years and I have faced thread stuck in driver error before. I updated my drivers and it worked perfectly.

When playing the game it has been coming up with the error again. I have checked several times and none of my drivers need updating apparently. My laptop is updated as well.

I thought to uninstall the game and try downloading it again but now it does it even when i’m trying to download.

Can anyone think of what I need to do next?

Thanks

Re: Thread stuck in driver

@reggieblackcat12  Don't worry about the error report for now; I see the BlueScreens in your dxdiag.  The most obvious issue is that your laptop doesn't have a proper graphics driver installed, so it's using the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter instead.  That's enough to slow down anyone's game.  But you can just download the newest driver from AMD:

https://www.amd.com/en/support/apu/amd-series-processors/amd-a4-series-apu-for-laptops/a4-1250-radeo...

It's possible you'll get an error when trying to install it.  Sometimes, laptop software blocks drivers that aren't delivered by the laptop manufacturer.  In that case, go here:

https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers

Enter your laptop's serial number, and look for a VGA driver from AMD.

Restart your computer after installing the driver and before trying to play.  If you get another error, let me know what it says.

@reggieblackcat12  Do you have an error report or other file with more info on this particular error?  It would be useful to know what exactly is getting stuck.

Please also run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

@puzzlezaddict I’ve downloaded the game again, no errors so far, it’s just running incredibly slow

Re: Thread stuck in driver

@reggieblackcat12  Did you install the graphics driver I linked?  The driver is part of the system, not the game, and if the game doesn't have a proper driver, it will run much more slowly than it should.
