The sims 3 wont load

I have a question about my Sims 3 game. It is the base game, I recently installed the latest patch and it won't load for anything. I go to the task manager and it says "The sims 3.....Not responding". What can I do to fix this? I really love my game and I want to play it ASAP.

Try resttetting your user files as described in the factory reset described in this post: http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-3/FAQ-Troubleshooting-Steps/td-p/714/

You won't loose anything. Just make sure to not delete any files and make a backup.
