The Sims 4 video card error

could you post your config.log file as well ? It can be found here: documents\electronicarts\thesims4\

You should be able to directly attach it to your post using select file in the lower right button.

Hi @iamthelaurs 

seems your card is in fact not recognized as it's not in the GraphicsCards.sgr file.

You can add it yourself if you are fairly confident in changing files. 

Here's instructions

1. Navigate to the following file: programs(x86)\Origin_Games\thesims4 (path may vary depending on your installation) and then Game\Bin.
2. You find a file called GraphicsCards.sgr in there. 
3. Create a backup of the file in case anything goes wrong.
4. Make sure the game is closed.
5. Open the file with a text editor of your choice.
6. Search for the following line: card 0x1c03 "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060" $cardLevelUber $resolutionHigh (6GB) and copy the text to your clipboard
7. Add a new line underneath and paste the whole line in the file
8. For the new line, change this bit: 0x1c03 to 0x1b83
9. Save the file and try to start your game again.

Hopefully it should now work.

I can go into create a sim now, but all my saves are gone. I've checked the save files, the cache, screenshots, videos... All empty.

So you get no message anymore ?

Do you still have your saves in your doc folder ?

No message, no. So the graphics card problem is fixed.

Just checked another thread and searched for "slot_" and they were in a "documents\my games\electronic arts\the sims 4" so I've found all my screenshots and saves and such. Now to put them where they should be and maybe faff with settings to make them always save where they should!

edit: I c&p the saves into documents\ea\the sims 4\ saves and then loaded the game and it's all back.

Trying to play the Sims 4 demo before deciding if I want the game for real. Cant open it though, keep getting the "your videocard is not compatible blabla" message.

I have a NVidia GTC 970 and just updated all the drivers for the videocard. 

Pls help

Also already added it in the 3D settings thingie from NVidia and unistalled and installed the game again, So that doens't  work
