The Sims 4 is not launching. When I open it, it's just a blank screen. I can hear the music but I cannot see anything. When I close it and open it again, I can briefly see the custom cursor and sometimes I can see the start-screen for a split second. I can also click on buttons but I just can't see what's happening.

No, I am not using any mods or any other add-on content; it's completely fresh and out-of-the-box.
I have tried disabling "Origin in Game" in Additional Game Properties (as suggested by EA support on Twitter) but that did nothing.
DirectX is up-to-date (11) and so is my video driver.
Please help - I really want to play this game. I bought The Sims 3 a while ago, had a similar problem and nobody helped.

You CPU and graphics chip is all in all a bit low but it does fulfill the minimum requirements (barely, but it does).
Did you try everything listed in the FAQ
Game doesn't start
On top of the things above you can also try this
Good Luck

I don't work or have any association with EA. I give advice to the best of my knowledge and cannot be held responsible for any damage done to your computer/game.
Please only contact me via PM when asked to do so.

I did everything on that list apart from reinstallation and now it's working. Thanks! Hopefully it doesn't crash after 20 minutes like The Sims 3 did.
